MicroInvest teaches financial literacy through simulated microfinance investing. Users receive $500 virtual currency to fund entrepreneurs in developing countries, learning risk management and diversification hands-on.

Two modes exist: Live mode fetches real Kiva.org projects; Demo mode uses educational examples. Three risk tiers structure investments: low (8% return, 5% default), medium (12% return, 12% default), high (18% return, 20% default). Users invest $25-$500 per project over accelerated 6-24 month periods.

Dynamic events create decision points during investments—crises requiring additional capital, opportunities for expansion, or early-exit scenarios. Seven educational modules cover core concepts with interactive quizzes. Experience points unlock achievements and rewards.

The portfolio interface shows returns, impact metrics, and health scores with diversification warnings. Pre-investment quizzes gate decisions while default lessons teach recovery strategies. Built with SwiftUI, the GameEngine manages simulation, events, and Kiva API integration with accelerated time for practical learning windows.
